Help a charity, win some prizes

Since 2003, the Association of Women Business Owners in the greater Lafayette area has held a prize raffle to benefit a local nonprofit organization. This year’s raffle will benefit the women’s program at Home with Hope, a substance-abuse rehabilitation facility for men and women transitioning back into mainstream culture.

The charity raffle and silent auction will take place during the AWBO meeting on Tuesday, December 11, at 11:45 a.m. at MCL Cafeteria in West Lafayette. Raffle prizes have been donated by AWBO members and supporters. Prizes include a set of my notecards, gift baskets, gift certificates, massages, handcrafted items, and even a “Dream Flight” from Lafayette Aviation’s Flight School.

I can sell you some raffle tickets, and you don't need to be at the meeting to win. Ticket prices are $5 for one ticket, $20 for five tickets, or $50 for 15 tickets. Silent auction items can only be bid on and won if you're there. All money raised will be donated to Home with Hope.

Having just opened in November, the Home with Hope 32-bed women’s facility is already full. The program offers a structured environment to people seeking help. Clients must seek employment and participate in daily Narcotics or Alcoholic Anonymous meetings to assist in their recovery. They are really filling a need in this community! Home with Hope can be contacted at 765-742-2321.

An you probably already know all about the Association of Women Business Owners from reading other posts, but in case you don't:
Founded in 1982, AWBO meets at MCL Cafeteria in West Lafayette at 11:45 a.m. on the second Tuesday of every month to give Lafayette-area women an opportunity to concentrate on the managing and planning of their businesses.  Women who have an ownership interest in a business or who file a Schedule C with the IRS are welcome to attend AWBO meetings and investigate membership.

With more than 100 members, AWBO is the only organization in the area specifically devoted to the networking and support of women business owners.  For more information, visit www.awbo.org.
